My journey to becoming a trainer is due to no small part to Dr Kenji Kuno, Senior Advisor (Social Welfare) of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). He gave me full support to participate in workshops and trainings organised by JICA and Department of Social Welfare Malaysia (DSWM), and opportunities to put what I have learnt into practice.
Special thanks to Ms Terumi Shikata, Project Coordinator (JKM – JICA Project) for behind the scene support for the trainings that I have attended and also conducted.
Thank you to Mr Tan Kuan Aw and Ms Christine Lee for mentoring me on disability rights advocacy, and for starting me off on this path by introducing me to Dr Kuno and the Independent Living Programme.
My utmost gratitude to the following persons for their support and being inspirations for me to follow in their footsteps to becoming a disability rights advocate:
Mr Shoji Nakanishi, Human Care Association
Ms Hiroko Akiyama, Center for Independent Living Hino
Ms Aiko Tsutsumi, Machida Human Network
The late Ms Emiko Nakahara, Human Care Association
Mr Hiroaki Furihata, Human Care Association
And to everyone who has played a part in paving the way for me to come this far. My achievements are yours as well.
