13 – 25 January 2014

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, Ministry of Women Family and Community Development and DET Forum organised a 10-day National Level Training of Trainer on Disability Equality Training. The workshop was held from 13 to 25 January, 2014 at the Training Institute of the National Council of Welfare and Social Development in Bandar Baru Sentul.

A total of 7 participants from Sabah, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, 2 from Rwanda and 2 from Uzbekistan spent 10 days learning to see disability from the Social Model of Disability perspective and making action plans, and skills on developing the structure of DET, making slides and facilitating workshops.

Together with 3 other senior trainers and under the guidance of Dr Kenji Kuno, I took turns to play the role of facilitator and co-facilitator to the participants, making sure that they fully understood the various modules in order for them to become effective trainers when they return to the respective organisations and countries.
